Edwin Hagendoorn was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1968.
A figurative painter, he works on location, but also in his studio in Olhão. He finds most of his subjects in daily life.
His direct approach, combined with a loose brush stroke gives his paintings a dynamic appearance.
Edwin teaches painting from nude model in both oil and acrylic.

I have always had a passion for the Arts. My background is in Fine Art and Antiques, I was a director of an Art gallery that curated artists from The RA to new graduates.
I am now fulfilling a life long wish to paint.

Meinke Flesseman was brought up in the Algarve and then lived and travelled around the world.
She studied fine Art at the Lorenzo di Medici Academy, in Moscow, and in the Ruud Wackers Academy in Amsterdam.
She is greatly influenced by her natural surroundings and a relationship with the land, people and animals.

Justine Albronda was born in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 1966. In 1992 she graduated as an Art Historian from the University of Amsterdam. She has been painting since 1995 and has had several exhibitions in the Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Portugal. She is known mainly for her still lives, interiors and self-portraits. Always painted from nature, her style can be described a delicate, clear and tranquil.

Primarily, my work is concerned with exploring representations of flora and fauna, the concept of 'nature' and crucially its relationship to humans.
I use a variety of printmaking techniques to create unique prints, limited editions, variable editions, artists book-works and installations. For my installations aromas form an integral and vital element.
I was born in Kowloon, Hong Kong and grew up in England. I graduated from Central St Martins (BA Fine Art, printmaking) and the Royal College of Art (MA Fine Art, printmaking) in London. In 2015 I graduated from the Faculdade de Belas Artes, Porto University, Porto with a PhD (by research thesis) in Art & Design.

After a long career in Marketing, I started to paint, and became a specialist in copying Old Masters. At the same time I developed a particular surrealist style and acquired a gallery in the West End, London.
Since being in Olhao, I have attempted various ways of painting with a view to finding a more spontaneous approach, while still taking commissions for copies.

Erik van Lint was born in Alkmaar, the Netherlands in 1970. He taught English and Cultural and Artistic Training at secondary schools until he moved to Olhão in 2006 where he set up his painting studio in Quelfes. Inspired by the amazing light and the proximity of the sea he has been painting here, together with Thessa van der Voort, with great joy.

A contemporary realist painter, American born, Jeffrey Gaylord Carter, paints primarily in oil. His subject's of landscape and urban scenes, are painted from direct observation. His work has been exhibited in the US, Canada and in Europe. Jeffrey currently lives and works in Olhao, Portugal.

Thessa van der Voort was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1950. Since 2010 she has also been living and working in Olhão, in the Eastern Algarve. Her artwork has been described as a study into the transition between the abstract and figuration. Being a poet herself, her passion for reading and writing is always palpable underneath the various layers of her work. Thessa´s work has been in many international exhibitions including in Brazil, Miami, Argentina, France, Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands. She also organises large exhibitions such as the Frida Kahlo exhibition in Amsterdam in 2015, which featured work from sixty artists.

Swedish born, Cecilia Persson Carter, studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Art and Massachusetts College of Art and Design, both in Boston, US, and received her MFA in Art, Society and Publics from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK. Her work has been exhibited both in the US and in Europe. Cecilia currently lives and works in Olhao, Portugal.

Paulo Gago was born in 1982 in Lisbon, Portugal.
He lives in Olhão, where he started drawing and painting when he was very young.
A self-taught artist, Paulo’s objective is to develop his artistic and idealogical ability without any limitation.
Not limited by style, medium or technique, each new work is a challenge allowing him to discover himself as a way towards an artistic realisation.

My work in drawing, photographs and paintings is an appreciation of time, chance, poetry and the unimaginably real presence of things when studied.
I studied photography, drawing and design in England from 1976, graduating in 1981 with a BA Hons from Norwich University of the Arts.
I’ve created several solo exhibitions across the Algarve from 1992 to 2017 and Lisbon in 1990, as well as participating in many group shows since 1982.
Currently leading drawing sessions with live nude models in the central Algarve.

O meu trabalho nas áreas do desenho, fotografia e pintura é uma observação do tempo, do acaso, da poesia, e da realidade inimaginável das coisas quando observadas.
Estudei fotografia, desenho e design em Inglaterra desde 1976, tendo-me licenciado em 1981 com um BA Hons da Norwich University of the Arts.
Várias exposições individuais por todo o Algarve entre 1992 e 2018 em Lisboa em 1990, bem como a participação em diversas Coletivas desde 1982.
Atualmente, oriento sessões de desenho de nu com modelos presenciais, no centro do Algarve.

An intuitive form of expression.
My painting is directly related to how I feel, always evolving the subject or a particular motive shifting as in a moving landscape of emotions, ideas, experiences and imagination.
The freedom to paint to interact with the painting without any set or formulated limitations is important to me. To let go, an outward expression a transitional process, leaving space ahead for the spontaneous and the unexpected.
I allow the work develop to come from itself, as it were.
I aim for the entity of the painting that evokes the emotions and warrants investigation by the viewer.
